You Are the Commons – Gifts to the Earth

Myths and Mirrors in partnership with Coalition for a Livable Sudbury and artist ELYSE PORTAL invite you to take part in a virtual visualization workshop and eco art-making activity in celebration of Earth Day.

Living beings do not “use” the commons provided by nature. Instead, they are physically and relationally a part of it.
~ Andreas Weber

During this time of human physical distancing, along with the closure of playgrounds and familiar outdoor spaces, many of us are isolated both from each other and nature. In virtual space, we will dissolve some of our feelings of isolation with an imaginative journey to nature. Together, we will reflect on our individual and collective commons. Following, for those who feel called, your reflections can be shared creatively with the group and as a Gift to the Earth on Earth Day, April 22nd.

The workshop will take place SATURDAY, APRIL 18th @1PM on Zoom.
Feel free to keep your video off, if you prefer. You can also join by phone.
Email mythsandmirrors@gmail.com for the LINK or number to dial in.
Participants are asked be somewhere quiet and comfortable, and to bring paper and something to write or draw with.

Then this Earth Day, let us give back. We invite participants and community to give a Gift to the Earth – we welcome your art, notes, poetry, and other offerings, as we celebrate Mother Earth and The Commons this April 22nd. Visit the Facebook event page for resources and ideas for ecological actions you can take this Earth Day and share your pictures on social media using #YouAretheCommons #GiftstotheEarth.

Program Update

April 7th, 2020 – Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all regular programming has been cancelled indefinitely,or until further notice. We believe that community connection and solidarity is needed now more than ever and are working to create opportunities for connection in an online/virtual space, and with the knowledge that these opportunities are not accessible to all. Please stay tuned to our social media accounts for updates or reach out via email at mythsandmirrors@gmail.com.
