Sudbury Street Arts launched in the fall of 2019 as a weekly arts drop-in space reserved for low-income folks and homeless and/or street involved people. Each Wednesday we’d gather as community members with mixed and shared experiences of homelessness, extreme poverty, immigration, queer identity, gender-based violence, disability, Indigeneity and racialization, to create a space of cultural production, gift giving, and knowledge exchange.
Unfortunately, Covid-19 has interrupted this work and left many without access to the supports and services necessary to meet their basic needs. To this end, we are seeking the following items to be redistributed to community members.
Items can be dropped off at 139 Durham St. – 2nd floor on Tuesdays between 10am-5pm. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or (249) 979-1795 to make arrangements or to set up an alternative drop-off time. (*Please note, physical distancing and other public health measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 will be enforced.)
If you’re unable to donate items, we’re also accepting monetary donations. From now until August 31st, 100% of all money raised will go towards the purchase of food and other supplies to be redistributed to community members in need. DONATE HERE!

Bust a move for community arts! Myths and Mirrors is thrilled to announce the 6th edition of the much-anticipated Dance-A-Thon fundraiser. The event will take place from 3pm to 3am on Saturday May 26th at La Fromagerie (80 Elgin St.). Non-stop music will be curated by amazing local DJs and guests. Myths and Mirrors invites the public to make dance teams of up to 4 people, getting friends, family, and co-workers together for super-fun evening.
Those who just aren’t really dancers, or who can’t make it, can still make a contribution at raiseathon.ca/mythsdance. Dancers are welcome to join at the door, as long as there’s room on the floor!
Does dancing for 12 hours sound a little daunting? No problem, just come and dance and have a good time. Stay as long as you like.
The Dance-A-Thon is an important fundraiser with no shortage of fun. Participants register online at raiseathon.ca/mythsdance, collect pledges and proceed to dance the night away. Dancers can register as a team of 4 or strut their stuff individually. The theme for this year’s event is the ’70s so participants are encouraged to dress up as their favourite ’70s icons. The night will include great prizes for participants in a number of categories, including top pledge earners.
The event is about “stepping up” to a fun challenge, while supporting community arts projects that make a real difference in our community. 100% of the proceeds will go towards outreach and youth programs at Myths and Mirrors, giving opportunities for personal and collective creative expression to those rarely get the chance.
