Project ArmHer is part of the art exhibit, Témoigner pour agir, opening Wednesday, November 29th at Maison de la culture Frontenac (2550, rue Ontario Est) in Montréal. Témoigner pour agir runs until January 21st, 2018.
From Testimonial Cultures:
“With this exhibition, there is the opportunity to discover the stories of people self-identifying as gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, trans, intersex, and of persons living with HIV or that have sex work experience… Témoigner pour Agir has developped an ethical discourse that highlights the aesthetic, historical and political issues, and challenges, that arise when testimonials about sexuality, body and gender expression, sex work and HIV-positive status are delivered publicly.
The artworks, from both professional artists and community art projects, present narratives that are intimate and contemporary, which reflect a collective struggle and a call for solidarity.”
Alt-Right got you down? Worried about hate groups putting up posters across our town? Well it’s time that we do something about it the best way we know how to… with paint, paper and some glue.
On October 25th, Myths and Mirrors hosted a poster-making session for everyone that wants to help stand up against these groups and send a different message. Not one of hate… but one of art.
About a dozen people attended the poster-making session and now we’re excited to share their work so keep an eye out downtown as we spread some Art Against Hate.
Myths and Mirrors Community Arts presents The Masks We Wear at Open Studio (93 Cedar St. Unit 303), November 14th-26th. The Masks We Wear features artwork by participants from Artistes Trans Artistry (ATA).
ATA provides transgender people (including those questioning their gender identity) a safe, confidential, and inclusive space to explore and create. Through weekly workshops, ATA participants have created the artwork featured in The Masks We Wear, and now the public is invited to celebrate their work, as we reflect on identity and examine the masks we wear.
See The Masks We Wear featured on CBC, Sudbury.com, and The Sudbury Star.
